• Gila Munster (she/her) is a Toronto-based drag queen, cultural producer, and community builder known for blending glamour, wit, and Jewish storytelling. An award-winning entertainer, Gila is the creator of “The 8 Gays of Channukah,” Canada’s largest annual queer Jewish event, and a leading force behind bringing Drag Queen Story Time to libraries and schools across Toronto.

    Offstage, Gila is a law student with a background in criminology and nonprofit work, committed to advocacy, education, and inclusive public spaces. Whether performing, producing, or organizing, Gila Munster uses drag as a joyful, political, and deeply communal art form.

  • Based in Toronto, Gila Munster provides performances and programming across the Greater Toronto Area and throughout southern Ontario. In the past she has traveled interprovincially to meet client needs, collaborating with organizations, institutions, and private clients wherever her work is invited, subject to scheduling and travel logistics.

    • Gila Munster is the proud recipient of the 2025 Student Leadership in 2SLGBTQ+ Rights Award from the Prisme Conference for queer legal professionals.

    • In January 2025, Gila was honoured to be recognized as “Best Entertainment Services” in the Canadian Choice Awards.

    • In November 2023, Gila was awarded the Mayworks Festival of Working People and the Arts Creative Maverick Award for her dedication to promoting working people through the arts.

    • In June 2023 she was selected to march with the Toronto Public Library in the Toronto Pride Parade, protesting censorship in front of 2.4 million spectators.

    • Gila is the first and only drag queen approved as a vendor for the Toronto District School Board.

    • Drag performances to spice up any engagement, including live vocals in English and Hebrew;

    • Emceeing and hosting large-scale events, such as fundraisers, to wow your guests and achieve your goals;

    • Culturally specific programming at the intersection of queer and Jewish life;

    • Family-friendly performances such as “Drag Queen Story Time,” as the only drag entertainer approved as a Toronto District School Board vendor;

    • Educational workshops for teens and adults, including her signature “Don’t Be a Drag, Be a Queen” program about the history of Pride and practical allyship.

She maintains a trusted network of drag and burlesque performers, musicians, visual artists, photographers, and designers, allowing her to scale productions and assemble tailored creative teams. Gila’s work is further informed by her unique intersectional perspective as a Jewish drag queen, enabling culturally specific, nuanced programming. As a law student, she also offers exceptional attention to contracts, compliance, and risk management, providing clients with creative excellence grounded in reliability and accountability.

    Gila Munster operates as a provincially registered business in Ontario and conducts all engagements through formal contracts and professional invoicing. She carries comprehensive business liability insurance and is fully licensed as an Entertainer with the City of Toronto, ensuring compliance with municipal requirements and providing clients with confidence, accountability, and risk-conscious professionalism.
